Shreddin’ with Lindsey

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

Even while wearing a helmet and riding a Stratton chairlift in a snowstorm… Lindsey Jacobellis’s hair looks great.

As a former Stratton Mountain School shredder, Lindsey is smack dab in the middle of training for the upcoming Olympics in Vancouver. Keep an eye out for her when NBC airs the Ladies Snowboard Cross on February 16.

Linz took the silver in the 2006 Olympics, and we can only assume that she’ll take the gold this year as long as she doesn’t bust a Method with the finish line in sight. (author’s note: it is RideVermont’s stance that a rider who chooses to risk a gold medal for a Method is a true ambassador of our sport. we’ll take a crash-and-burn Method over a gold any day. besides, we have that speed skater dude, Apollo Creed or something?, to do that for us. go, Apollo Creed!).

Uncle Joey, meet the Hulkster

Thursday, December 24th, 2009

Gear addiction. It’s a serious problem with numerous side effects including: thinning wallet, gotta-have-it-even-though-I-don’t-need-it spasms and snowboard shop-itis.

Good thing it’s Christmas time, when somebody else can buy the stuff for you.

So here’s the shopping cart I forwarded to everyone in my Gmail contact list. Hey, you never know… maybe that editor I emailed for a job at the Craig, Colorado newspaper 5 years ago will realize who he passed up and coax me with a gift.

The Rome Artifact 1985 SK

Rome_SDS_SK

Only 100 of these limited edition Artifacts were made by Rome. The artwork was designed by a shop kid (that’s what the SK stands for: shop kid) from Michigan, and the boards are only being sold to shop kids and resort employees living in resort-town ghettos. Keep trolling ebay, it’ll pop up.

Lunch with Lindsey Jacobellis

Lindsey

Just one lunch with the Olympic medalist and X-Games boardercross star… that’s all I ask.

Neff Hulk Hogan Facemask

hulk

I knew it the moment I saw the Hulkster supplex Rowdy Roddy Piper in 1985… someday I would be wearing a face-rag inspired by his blond walrus mustache. Bonus: it fits in an XMas stocking.

Burton Cardi Sweater

burton cardi

My feelings about this Kurt Cobain-inspired cardigan can best be summed up by the scene in Dumb and Dumber where Harry is being asked to “pull over!” by a motorcycle cop. Quoth Harry: “It’s a cardigan. Thanks for noticing.” Seriously though, cardigans are so hot right now.

Custom-designed Vans Slip-Ons

vans custom

You pay a little more to customize on vans.com, but it’s the only way I’m going to get fandango-pink/true-yellow/small-checkboard shoes. And I can be guaranteed that no one else at the Wobbly Barn is cramping my style this season.

2010 Olympics Halfpipe Finals Tickets

olympic_tix

Starting bid on ebay? $6,000. Also, if you could throw in airfare to Vancouver, a 5-day lift pass to Whistler and a heli trip, that’d be great. Thanks.

Dave Coulier “Cut It Out” Button

Technically, it has nothing to do with snowboarding. But I’m looking forward to wearing Uncle Joey on my lapel all year long, reminding everyone I meet to keep it real.

What’s on your XMas wish list? Leave a comment below and let us know.
